Dates of travel: March 27-30, 2013
Here's I how I much I spent for four days and three nights in Camarines Norte. 'Some Bagasbas notes and photos before the Excel stuff:
Bagasbas Beach in Daet was a massive party place during the Holy Week. They were playing Fun, One Direction, and stuff like that on massive speakers.

1. We saved a lot on our
Calaguas expenses because Engr. and Mrs. Lito Pascual of Daet were kind enough to lend their 20-seater boat to our Gawad Kalinga volunteer friends (yeah, yeah, Grace and I free loaded). They also drove our group from Daet to Vinzons and back. We are forever indebted to them.
Grace was limping here because she injured her leg while surfing. How badass is that? ;) Naturally, when she got home, she got scolded by her mom 'cause she doesn't get to turn 30 and not be rebuked by her mom anymore. Yeah, she's badass like that. Photo courtesy of Paul Tamisin Garcia
2. We either encountered several dishonest tricycle drivers in Daet, or the tricycle drivers failed to agree on the fare during the Annual Tricycle Drivers Summit.* The fares were drastically inconsistent for several trips from the town center to Bagasbas Beach and vice-versa. (*I just made this up. 'Not a real thing. Or at least I think it's not).
3. If you find yourself in Bagasbas, make it a point to try Earl's Burger. So far, it's the burger with the biggest bang for the buck that I've tried. The a la carte burger is only P50.00; P70.00 if you want fries with it. The place is across the beach but is EASY to miss because it also happens to be a karaoke bar (Whether it's a karaoke bar masquerading as a burger place or a burger place masquerading as a karaoke bar, we will never know).
It'd be a shame if you don't try Earl's Burger. Photo courtesy of Paul Tamisin Garcia
4. We got more than our money's worth for food at
Bagasbas Surfer's Dine Inn. What we paid for our room, (at P1,000 a night for two people) though, was a bit steep. It was a dilapidated room with two beds and a toilet. That's it. Nothing else. Oh, and there was one inaccessible power outlet that was dangling above one of the beds. Seriously, one power outlet that was too high, our phones also dangled when we try charging them. Globe's signal seems weak at the inn too.
5. We took a
Superlines bus to Daet, and a
DLTB bus back to Manila. We were generally happy with the Superlines bus 'til we got on the DLTB one. They say DLTB buses really tend to be newer, hence cleaner, more efficient, more relia ... okay, you get the picture.
6.
Hotel Dolor in downtown Daet baffles me. They have rooms on the second floor, but the reception area is on the third floor. I wouldn't feel safe staying overnight in this place because although they have a security person on the first floor, he doesn't check whether someone is checked in or not. It's another dilapidated building, by the way, and from the looks of it, it could be a place where lovers rendezvous. We also made sure we didn't touch the light switch in the toilet because of faulty wiring we found out about the hard way. 'Only advantage is the hotel is smack right in the middle of the town and is within walking distance of the public market, banks, and souvenir shops.
Grace contemplating on her connection with humanity. Not. :D
Excel time, baby!
